FIZZ & GINGER

CLOSING NIGHT

JUNE 26 | 7:30pm

Fizz & Ginger is a jazz musical for the new age—an immersive, 90-minute experience that traces the steps of the 1920s New Yorker nightlife reviewer, Lipstick, as she heads up Amsterdam to write about the jazz of the Harlem Renaissance.

She meets five quintessential New York archetypes who represent the diversity, feminism and cautions of a changing world. The work celebrates the better times of bathtub gin and late night debauchery in the roaring 20s speakeasy scene.

Lois Long (Lipstick) is a staple in New York nightlife journalism, archiving our rich culture’s history in her column “When Nights are Bold.” Supported by a live jazz combo, the work pays homage to Lipstick’s reviews from the New Yorker archives.

We're transforming the New York Comedy Club in the East Village into a speak-easy for a three-night run. You're not going to want to miss it!

BROOKLYN -

SCHOLES STREET STUDIO

MAY 29 | 7pm

Art and activism in action; questioning the idea of traditional performance spaces. The series is a collection of miniatures, each movement a musical obituary to an extinct animal, and a statement by the creator, who will never complete the series in her lifetime.

Collections from this series are being presented in hour-long segments, free of charge in open air spaces where man intersects nature to raise awareness of the irreversible ramifications of climate change. Five performances will take place in three of New York’s boroughs: Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.
