Flutist & Director of Grants

Lindsey Eckenroth, a native of Reading, Pennsylvania, is a musicologist and flutist currently based in Brooklyn. She has been a member of the Curiosity Cabinet since its inception in 2009. After graduating with a degree in flute performance from New York University in 2008, Lindsey has dedicated herself to the performance of 20th- and 21st-century chamber music, having premiered works by Whitney George, Nicholas R. Nelson, Matt Frey, and Jay Vilnai, among others. She is the recipient of the 2009 De los Mederos Award in Contemporary Music Performance.

As a musicologist, Lindsey is currently pursuing her PhD at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her dissertation, preliminarily titled “Listen Like This: Audiovisual Argument in Rockumentary,” explores how rockumentaries take part in the mythologization of rock while also making arguments about how we should hear that rock. Her writing has been published in Rock Music Studies, American Music Review, and Women and Music: A Journal of Gender and Culture.
